The six-headed figure heavily cast seated in dhyanasana on a lotus base, flanked by two lotus flowers rising to his shoulders and supporting his attribute, the book of wisdom, the front of the base with a seven-character Qianlong mark within a cartouche, the exposed body parts painted in cold gold

Lot Essay
This bronze is very heavily cast and retains some of the original cold gold applied to the exposed body parts. For another example of this type, from the Baoxianglo Pantheon recorded by Baron von Stael-Holstein in 1926, see W. Clark (ed.), Two Lamaistic Pantheons, 1965, fig. 4M8, p. 116; compare furthermore with a figure of Hayagriva, from the same set, sold at Christie's New York, 21 March 2001, lot 138.
