Lot Essay
This bronze is very heavily cast and retains some of the original cold gold applied to the exposed body parts. For another example of this type, from the Baoxianglo Pantheon recorded by Baron von Stael-Holstein in 1926, see W. Clark (ed.), Two Lamaistic Pantheons, 1965, fig. 4M8, p. 116; compare furthermore with a figure of Hayagriva, from the same set, sold at Christie's New York, 21 March 2001, lot 138.
