Vajradhara, representing the supreme essence of all buddhas, is identified by his hands, which are crossed in the gesture of highest energy. Two lotuses at shoulder level support a thunderbolt, which represents the male principle of fitness of action and compassion, and the bell, which symbolizes the female principle of wisdom.
Tiny pieces of turquoise (from Afghanistan and China) and coral (from Italy), beloved by Tibetans for their brilliant colors, decorate this figure.
